Welcome back to the Cohort V Student Spotlight Series. Our second feature is on Harrison Siegal from Atlanta, Georgia. Harrison completed his undergraduate career at Christopher Newport University (CNU) and earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. During his time at CNU, Harrison competed for the men’s varsity baseball program, was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and completed undergraduate research in his field of study.

After completing four years at CNU, Harrison decided to continue his education at Virginia Tech by pursuing a master’s degree in chemistry from the Virginia Tech College of Science. While  approaching the final year of his multi-year chemistry graduate program, Harrison chose to apply to Cohort V of the MSBA-BA program. He was adamant about applying because he knew that combined with his graduate degree in chemistry, the MSBA-BA program would provide him with the dynamic skills he needed to make him a strong, unique candidate for the type of career he wanted to pursue.

Since being accepted into the program, Harrison has been off to a strong start. He utilizes his diverse, non-business education background to bring a different perspective to the courses that Cohort V students take in the fall semester on a daily basis. While working hard at completing both degrees, Harrison has also accepted a full-time position with Appian Corporation as an Associate Consultant in the Mclean, Virginia office that will begin after graduation.

When asked what he thinks the greatest takeaway he will receive from the MSBA-BA program he states, “I think the MSBA-BA program will benefit me in the long run as it will prepare me for work life outside of academia through the many skills learned during the capstone project, as well as, help improve my ability to solve complex problems”.
