Solution Summary: Developed an interactive job performance report that delivers actionable, job-specific production insights to help factory managers identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
The Challenge
Modern factories generate massive amounts of machine and production data, but turning that raw data into clear, actionable insights for factory managers is no small feat. FlexMetrics needed a way to help its clients pinpoint performance bottlenecks at the job level — empowering managers to make better day-to-day decisions that drive efficiency and reduce downtime.
The Solution
The student team expanded FlexMetrics’ product portfolio by designing new job-based visuals within an interactive reporting tool. They started by studying real client production data and built clear, easy-to-use visualizations that highlight underperforming jobs and equipment. The report drills down to specific problem areas — for example, revealing how excessive downtime or repeated material issues impact a job’s runtime.
The new report allows managers to slice data by equipment, job description, and key metrics, helping them prioritize high-impact improvements. With this tool, FlexMetrics’ customers gain a clearer window into their operations and can tackle inefficiencies with data-backed confidence.
The Impact
FlexMetrics’ new job-based reporting unlocks richer, more targeted insights for its clients. Factory managers can now identify jobs that consistently underperform, investigate root causes, and implement changes that boost uptime and reduce waste. For FlexMetrics, the added value strengthens customer satisfaction, supports retention, and enhances the firm’s appeal to new clients.
