Biography

Cliff T. Ragsdale, Ph.D. is the Academic Director of the Pamplin College of Business’ Center for Business Analytics, and he holds the Bank of America Professorship in the Department of Business Information Technology at Virginia Tech. He is responsible for building relationships with key consitiuencies with the university and beyond in the area of business intelligence and analytics, and fostering opportunities for Pamplin faculy to pursue interdisciplinary and sponsored research.

Ragsdale is an internationally recognized scholar and thought leader for business analytics education, and the use of spreadsheets for modeling, analyzing, and supporting business decisions. He is author of the best-selling textbook Spreadsheet Modeling and Decision Analysis: A Practical Introduction to Business Analytics, now in its seventh edition, and used in many of the leading business and engineering programs in the U.S. and around the world. Dr. Ragsdale has served as a consultant to a variety of organizations, and has also served as an expert witness in the area of spreadsheet forensics.

Ragsdale received his Ph.D. in Management Science and Information Technology from the University of Georgia. He also holds an M.B.A. in Finance and B.A. in Psychology from the University of Central Florida.
